The fellowship grants aim at enhancing the quality of teaching, research, innovation and internationalisation in Kosovo’s Higher Education and research sector and enable PhD students and Post-Docs to study or carry out research in Austria.

This programme is intended for students at bachelor's or master's level from non-European universities who want to spend a semester or two at an Austrian University of Applied Sciences (‘Fachhochschule’).

The Ernst Mach Grant worldwide is intended for young researchers and university lecturers of all disciplines who are studying or pursuing research outside Austria and want to carry out a research project in Austria.

The Ernst Mach Follow-up Grant (EZA) supports postdocs from non-European developing countries who in the past received a grant administered by the OeAD-GmbH. This programme is intended to support the applicant's scientific carrier and to deepen the cooperation with Austrian higher education institutions. At least three years must have passed since the last funded research visit to Austria at the start of the planned grant period.

The Indonesia – Austria scholarship programme is intended for Indonesian students who want to pursue a doctoral programme at an Austrian university and who fulfill the admission requirements for the doctoral programme. The call is open to all research fields but with a special focus on STEM subjects.

The Ernst Mach Grant within the framework of the ASEAN-European Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET) enables study and research stays in Austria. The target groups are researchers (postgraduates, postdocs and lecturers at member institutions of the ASEA-UNINET) as well as undergraduates and graduates (music performance).

The Richard Plaschka Grant is open to researchers in the historical sciences with focus on Austrian history or Austria-related historic topics. The scholarship duration is four to twelve months, an extension up to 18 months as well as admission to the follow-up support programme is possible. This programme promotes research cooperations and aims to establish a sustainable network of researchers with scientific relations to Austria.

The Franz Werfel Grant is intended for young university teachers with above-average qualifications, preferably with teaching experience and employment at a university, whose work focuses on Austrian literature. The duration of the scholarship is four to nine months, an extension up to 18 months as well as admission to the follow-up support programme is possible. This programme aims at fostering academic cooperation as well as an international network of scholars of Austrian literature.

CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies) is a multilateral mobility programme with Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. Students and lecturers can apply for a stay abroad, funded by the respective host country, as part of a CEEPUS network. Both shorter (excursions lasting at least three days) and longer stays (up to ten months) can be supported.

Application deadline 1 June: Applications for the winter semester and the full academic year 2026/27

The grant is targeted at highly qualified postgraduates who wish to pursue a doctoral programme in one of the following departments at the EUI in Florence: history and cultural history, economic sciences (political economy), legal studies, political and social sciences. LL.M programmes are not supported.

The OeAD and the Federal Chancellery are offering Austrian students the unique opportunity to study at the College of Europe, one of the most prestigious educational institutions for European studies: three grant scholarships are being awarded for the locations in Bruges (Belgium), Natolin (Poland) and Tirana (Albania).

Applications for a place for the 2026/27 academic year can be submitted directly to the College of Europe until 15 January 2026. Applications for the corresponding grant scholarship can be submitted to the OeAD until 31 January 2026.

The Marietta Blau Grants of the Austrian Centres (formally known as Doctoral Research Fellowships) are aimed at highly qualified doctoral candidates who wish to complete a research stay at an institute of the Austria Centers. The fellowship serves to optimise their doctoral thesis.

The Marietta Blau Grant offers financial support for six- to twelve-month stays abroad for highly qualified doctoral or PhD students at Austrian universities. It serves to optimise the content of dissertations through research abroad. Early-stage researchers are the main target group.

A visiting professorship is funded to support the research activities of the Centre for Austrian Studies in Edmonton. Applications are open to outstanding postdocs from Austrian universities. The appointment shall be for an initial term of 2 years, starting mid-August 2026, with the possibility of renewal for up to an additional year. The tasks of this assistant or associate professor are: collaborating with the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies, teaching and research activities at the Faculty of Arts including the planning of new research projects, fostering collaboration and cooperation with Austrian educational and scientific institutions.

An assistant professorship is funded to support the research activities of the Center for Austrian Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Applications are open to outstanding postdocs from Austrian universities. The appointment shall be for one academic year, starting October 2026. The tasks of this assistant professor are: collaborating with the Center for Austrian Studies, teaching and research activities including the planning of new research projects, fostering collaboration and cooperation between Austrian and Israeli educational and scientific institutions.

The Eurasia-Pacific Uninet (EPU) comprises a multitude of international partners from all subject areas in Central Asia, East Asia and the Pacific region and supports projects in research, research-based teaching and art as well as technology cooperations.

Funding is provided for bilateral and multilateral projects between Eurasia-Pacific Uninet partner institutions with a duration of one year. Mit dieser Reihe werden Schulprojekte der bau- kulturellen Bildung (aus den Disziplinen Architektur, Landschaftsgestaltung, Stadt- und Raumplanung u. a.) unterstützt. In Zusammenarbeit mit externen Expertinnen und Experten werden Schüler/innen für die gebaute und gestaltete Umwelt sensibilisiert. Teams aus Schule und Expertise aus den Bereichen Baukultur/Architektur sind eingeladen, gemeinsame Projektideen einzureichen. Aus den eingereichten Konzepten wählt eine Fachjury Projekte aus, die unterstützt werden.

„Prix Ars Electronica u19–create your world“ ist der Wettbewerb der Ars Electronica für junge Menschen bis einschließlich 19 Jahre, die bewusst und aktiv unsere Gegenwart oder Zukunft im Bereich Kunst, Technologie und Gesellschaft gestalten wollen. Der OeAD ist Projektpartner. Eingereicht werden können innovative, kritische und künstlerische Ideen oder Projekte, die allein, im Team oder mit der ganzen Klasse im Rahmen von Schulprojekten erarbeitet werden. Alle Ausdrucksmittel sind erwünscht: Games, Filme, Visualisierungen, Podcasts, Musikstücke, Sound Installationen, Zeichnungen, Geschichten, Software, Hardware, Prototypen, Konzepte, Gedichte und vieles mehr. Die Preise werden von einer Fachjury vergeben.

Der Young Science Inspiration Award ist ein Preis des OeAD für schulische Abschlussarbeiten. Maturantinnen und Maturanten, die ihre schulischen Abschlussarbeiten basierend auf einem Vorschlag der Young-Science-Themenplattform verfasst haben, können diese jährlich beim OeAD einreichen. Wenn die Arbeit einen inspirierenden, innovativen Gedanken für die Forschung enthält, werden die Jugendlichen für den Preis nominiert. Aus allen Nominierungen wählt eine Fachjury die drei spannendsten Arbeiten aus, welche im Rahmen des Young-Science-Kongresses im Herbst 2026 auf der Bühne präsentiert werden können.

Im Schuljahr 2025/26 lädt der Kreativwettbewerb des BMB Schülerinnen und Schüler ein, das Thema „connect.create.care“ künstlerisch zu bearbeiten. Gesucht werden Beiträge zum Zusammenspiel von Kunst, KI und Schule zwischen Pixel, Pinsel und Poesie: Wie verändern KI-Angebote Lernen, Denken, Fühlen und Gestalten? Eingereicht und prämiert werden Projekte von Schulen in allen Kunstsparten, die mit kreativen, künstlerischen Methoden und Techniken durchgeführt wurden – von bildnerischen Arbeiten, Filmen, Fotografien, Architekturentwürfen, Designerstücken und Texten bis hin zu digitalen Spielen und Radiosendungen. Eine Jury wählt die besten Projekte aus.

Der OeAD lädt Schulen aus ganz Österreich ein, einen Young-Science-Tag zu organisieren und in die Welt der Forschung einzutauchen. Was genau die Kinder und Jugendlichen dabei erlebt haben, wird anschließend auf unkomplizierte Weise dokumentiert (z.B. Fotos, Zitate, Videos, Bilder) und beim OeAD eingereicht. Beim jährlich im Herbst stattfindenden Young-Science-Kongress werden die Schulen, die die spannendsten Forschungstage organisiert haben, vor den Vorhang geholt und mit Geldpreisen für die Klassenkassa ausgezeichnet!
