Alumni Ethiopia

A considerable number of Ethiopian students completed their postgraduate studies at an Austrian Universitie within Austrian scholarship programs. After returning home, they work in different institutions, government and non-governmental as well as private sectors and most of them in universities.

Some former OeAD-scholars founded the Association of Ethiopians educated in Austria (AEEA). This organisation is a non-profit, non-govermental organisation, who wants to foster a mutually beneficial relationship between Austrian institutions and their alumni.

The AEEA is, in collaboration with the OeAD, the organiser of the alumni conferences, which have taken part in Addis Ababa in 2009 & 2010.

The main objectives of the conference are:

• to bring alumni together and enable them to exchange information and experiences: concerning their fields of work and (scientific) activities, international cooperation activities and facilities;
• to promote cooperation, networking and collaboration in (inter)national projects;
• to promulgate new perspectives for innovative solutions (e.g. concerning social and environmental problems and challenges) and for opportunities to collaborate;
• to promote dialogue and foster exchange of ideas, articulate and address needs and problems, recommendations and proposals; and
• to officially inaugurate AEEA and declare that it is legal and certified association according to an Ethiopian law.
