Pakistan Grants

Since 2003 students from Pakistan are given the possibility to study a doctoral programme in Austria. This scholarship is fully financed by the Pakistani government (Higher Education Commission, HEC), the administration of the programme and guidance for the scholarship holders are taken care of by the OeAD.

The scholarship is awarded for a maximum of 36 months, students wishing to apply must be in possession of a completed master degree. The pre-selection of the candidates is carried out by the HEC, the interviews take place once a year (spring) in Pakistan and are held by Austrian university professors.

The services of the OeAD include guidance and assistance of the scholarship holders both before their arrival in Austria and in Austria in all Austrian university locations. They include help in obtaining a settlement permit, issue of confirmations, arrangement of accommodation, taking out a health and accident insurance on behalf of the scholarship holders, disbursement of the monthly scholarship instalments, organisation of information and cultural events, etc.
