Admission

The admission requirements, dates and deadlines differ very much between the universities of applied sciences. Therefore enquire in time at the Fachhochschule of your choice university of applied sciences of your choice.
For admission to a Fachhochschule degree programme you need, depending on the degree course:

  • general university entrance qualification: This has to be proved by an Austrian school leaving certificate / graduation certificate or by passing a university entrance qualification examination (Studienberechtigungsprüfung). A foreign school leaving certificate must be given equivalent recognition so that you can study in Austria. With several countries Austria has concluded agreements of equivalence of school leaving certificates.

  • relevant professional qualification

Some Fachhochschule degree programmes also require proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language. Moreover, all applicants have to undergo an entrance procedure. This differs from one degree programme to the other. Usually you have to submit written documents, pass written or oral tests and an interview.
