Discussion & Knowledge Discourse
“Development” is understood as a holistic concept that seeks to improve the quality of life of people especially in the Less and Least Developed Countries within their own cultural framework conditions. The “limits to growth” make it clear that the resolution of global ecological problems is not possible without a global social reconciliation of interests – especially through reduction of absolute poverty.
This development discourse discusses the question of the relation between industrialised and poorest countries and the one of the “desirable” inventory of knowledge. Internationalisation of sciences in the context of development-relevant issues means transnational knowledge transfer and also the unprejudiced dealing with different knowledge models.
On the basis of responsible empiric research the area of “Education & Research for Development Cooperation” provides inputs for this knowledge discourse and organises different forums, also together with the research partners from the “South”: round tables, workshops, discussions, weblogs, newsletters, quarterly focus on specific topics, online surveys and events in the cooperation countries.
