Development Research
Development research is an inter- and trans-disciplinary research area. On the basis of empirical studies development-relevant analyses and problem solutions are worked out for countries, societies and regions that suffer from a weak infrastructure and are threatened by poverty.
The thematic framework and the development policy-related objectives of development research are defined by the UN Millennium Development Goals. Research in cooperation between Austrian research institutions and partner institutions in Less and Least Developed Countries are supported and accompanied, the results are made available to the scientific community and the general public.
The <//a> has implemented 78 projects in 29 African, Asian and Latin American countries so far; the priorities of these projects are environment, agriculture and forestry, health, water and socio-economic issues. On the basis of this expertise research cooperations in the field of “Education & Research for Development Cooperation” are intensified with special emphasis being placed on regional priorities and priority regions of the Austrian Development Cooperation.“Commission for Development Studies“ (KEF)
