Education & Research for International Development Cooperation
The “Education and Research for International Development Cooperation” team administers North-South cooperations in the following areas:
- Scholarship programmes
- Development research
- University cooperations
- Discussion platforms
Scholarship holders from developing countries contribute in an essential way to a strengthening of the human resources in their countries of origin and enrich the Austrian higher education and research landscape in terms of an internationalisation of sciences.
Development research is an inter- and trans-disciplinary research area. On the basis of empirical studies development-relevant analyses and problem solutions are worked out for countries, societies and regions that suffer from a weak infrastructure and are threatened by poverty. The Commission for Development Studies (KEF) supports research programmes between Austrian scientific institutions and partner institutions in the south.
University cooperations (appear) with scientific institutions in the priority countries and regions of the Austrian Development Cooperation improve the learning, teaching and research conditions in countries with a weak infrastructure and create new approaches to the international scientific community. Under the superordinate goal of reducing poverty scientific results are worked out and presented together with partners.
Discussion platforms about fundamental development policy questions are organised in Austria and abroad together with research partners of the “South”: Round tables, workshops, discussions, weblogs, newsletters, quarterly focus on specific topics, online surveys and events in the cooperation countries.
