Young Science

Centre for Cooperation between Science & Schools

With the slogan “Research connects People” the information and service point “Young Science” offers collective information and contacts regarding all programmes of pre-university support for junior researchers of the Federal Ministry of Science and Research (BMWF). The aim of the initiative is to intensify the cooperation between the secondary and tertiary education system and to facilitate direct contacts between school pupils and universities and universities of applied sciences.

Tasks:

  • Young Science informs pupils about higher education, from career options and decision-making support to advice for moving from school life to student life. Pupils wishing to look behind the scenes of science and research can find information about activities such as MATHE-Cool und GEN-AU SummerSchools. As regards final papers at schools Young Science will also play a central intermediary role for pupils who are interested in getting in contact with a university.
  • Young Science informs schools which are interested in collaboration with research institutions and tertiary education institutions about support programmes and possible partners.
  • Teachers, pupils and career counsellors will receive information and support about the career counselling services.
  • Young Science informs higher education institutions wishing to reach children and youngsters with their topics and offers about calls for application and funding options of the BMWF and supports networking with schools that are interested in cooperation projects and partnerships.

As a network and service point “Young Science” supports, advises and informs interested people in person, via telephone or via e-mail.
